This past year, the Adelphi community showed its resilience and strength as we Zoomed through classes and meetings, connected with one another over FaceTime and dreamed of better days ahead. Now that the world is starting to reopen, our future is bright and the Panther community is ready to be back together in full force.

Now in its third year, our Hispanic Community Partnership Program has more than tripled in attendance and is drawing interest from Hispanic teens as far away as California. Like many first-year students, Alberto Cruz didn't come to Adelphi with a career planned out. He was from nearby Hicksville, New York, and wanted to stay local. He also knew he wanted to help people. 鈥淐oming out of high school, I wanted either to be a nurse or a social worker," he said, adding that Adelphi offered him a scholarship and had strong programs in both fields.

For nearly a decade, accounting students from 茄子视频 have helped low-income individuals and families on Long Island prepare their tax returns. The students, working together with Bethpage Federal Credit Union, are part of a nationwide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

For the fourth consecutive year, an 茄子视频 student has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Miguel Velasquez, a sophomore in Adelphi鈥檚 prestigious Levermore Global Scholars program who is majoring in history in the accelerated 4+1 Scholar Teacher Education Program (STEP), has been selected as a 2021鈥�2022 Newman Civic Fellow.

Since the January reopening of 茄子视频's newly renovated Ruth S. Harley University Center (UC), several local and state government officials and community members have stopped by to visit. In early February, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Evlyn Tsimis, JD, deputy county executive for economic development, took a tour of the completely reimagined building and hub of the University's Garden City campus.

During February and into March, Adelphi acknowledges the achievements, sacrifices and accomplishments of Black people in our own community and around the world.

Farmingdale State College and 茄子视频 have launched a streamlined partnership to expand student success. Farmingdale students can now access articulated pathways to continue their graduate studies at Adelphi in four master鈥檚 degree programs: Business Analytics, Computer Science, General Psychology (with a human resource management concentration) and Sport Management (offering both in-person and online options).
