Every August, Adelphi holds our Matriculation ceremony, a tradition in which the board of trustees, senior leadership and faculty welcome first-year students to the Adelphi community of scholars. At this year's ceremony, the Matriculation speaker was one of Adelphi's own鈥擲cott Dimig '06, vice president at Epic Records. He may be 17 years removed from his first semester at Adelphi, but his excitement and energy matched that of the Class of 2023.

City & State New York has named Nikki Kateman '10, 茄子视频 alumna and political communications director of the Local 338 Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU/UDCW), to their prestigious 2019 Albany 40 Under 40 list. The annual honor recognizes outstanding individuals under the age of 40 who are shaking up state politics.

Dr. Marvin Eisenstadt did research on creativity and it led to my Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1964 from the Derner Institute, although perhaps not its name then.聽

In April, 2014, Dr. Carolida Steiner was invited to serve as Chairperson of our alumni organization. Doctoral students had, of course, stayed in touch for years and even decades without the help of their own organization.

Derner alumna Dr. Valentina Stoycheva recently participated in a panel discussion for doctoral students on the topic of starting a pri-vate practice. Following this productive conversation, she and other alumni have launched a new private Facebook group called Derner Private Practice Tribe.

As a young woman from a small town in Connecticut, Sarah Cinquemani knew that she did not wish to attend a large university, such as UConn. She wanted to attend a smaller institution that provided access to her professors.

Bernadine Waller, MA '10, associate director of experiential learning at Adelphi's Center for Career and Professional Development and a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Social Work, was awarded a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) R36 grant to complete her dissertation.

"Adelphi was the right size because you can get a lot of attention there that you wouldn't get at these huge campuses with 50,000 or 60,000 students. For me, it was a very nurturing campus."

When you walk into the Museum of Arts and Design in Manhattan, you'll see 125 pieces of colorful coral art relating to coral bleaching events and clay art exploring the possibilities of varied surfaces. This is聽Lauren Skelly Bailey: Studio Focus, an exhibit displaying the work of聽Lauren Skelly Bailey '12, M.A. '14, through January 13, 2019.

During the October 2018 Spirit Week 10 Under 10 Induction and Reception, Adelphi's first alumni affinity group was announced鈥攚ith big plans to come.
