The promotion of information literacy skills is an important factor of my professionalism. I enjoy working and collaborating with the teaching faculty and students in the dissemination of informational resources to support the curriculum.
I am also considered a respected Toni Morrison scholar because of my extensive research into the work and life of the first African American Nobel Laureate (1993) for Literature.
Non-academic, but interesting that my contributions to the Toni Morrison Society, as well as my scholarship on the literary contributions of the Nobel Laureate has resulted in personal invitations to her 70th, 75th and 80th honored birthday parties...
In addition, many find the complexities of legal and government document research daunting. However, working with faculty and students to broaden their understanding of legal documents, citation analysis and judicial systems is something that I I truly enjoy. For example, the 1993 article, "Legal Research and the Democratic System" was an outflow of my interest in the subject and how that knowledge was used for my professional development.
As a librarian/researcher, giving voice to historical African American figures of the 17th, 18th and 19th century is also one of my professionally developed passions. I am often invited to contribute to biographical publications that highlight the accomplishments of unsung heroes.
